Paul tells the Ephesian Christians that Christ Himself has a purpose for His church to not only live out the grace and worship of God and to share this Good News of salvation to the world! And Christ also has a good purpose for each Christian in His church to be built up for “works of service” v12!
Even though these “works of service” are not limited to serving Him within the church in Glory, serving God in the local church is a great way to be equipped and known by the leaders, and to grow in the practical knowledge of who Jesus is as we interact and work with other Christians “as each part does its work v16.”
Each Christian has a part to play in God’s church and some great ways to find out what spiritual gifts and talents God has given to each of us specifically to serve Him is to
Ask your family or close Christian friends or mentors what they think your spiritual gift is
Do a spiritual gifts test online. These can give you an idea of which areas you can serve in
Look through the list of ministry openings and ask God which area He wants you to serve in
Try out a new ministry and be open to feedback from ministry leaders as they guide you, of what your gifting(s) may be.
Let us take heart to what Christ, the Head of His church, has done for us on the cross and serve Him faithfully with all our hearts.
“But be sure to fear the LORD and serve him faithfully with all your heart;
consider what great things he has done for you.” 1 Samuel 12:24
