Trials and blessings often accompany faithfulness.
For their faithfulness to God, Daniel’s three friends became human barbeques Well…almost, if not for God’s divine intervention. Can’t say the same for the guys who threw them into the flame! (Dan.3) For his faithfulness to God, Daniel almost became food for the lions (Dan.6).
Daniel’s faithfulness not only brought him trials – but also brought him God’s blessings. For their faithfulness, God promoted Daniel’s three friends (Dan.3:30) and prospered Daniel during the reign of Darius and the reign of Cyrus the Persian (Dan.6:28).
Whether we like it or not, God is faithful to reward us for our faithfulness. “A faithful man will abound with blessings” (Proverbs 28:20a, ESV)
Like Daniel and his friends, staying faithful to God and His Word can get us into real trouble. They lived because God preserved their lives. But unlike Daniel, many others throughout the ages have died for their faithfulness.
Are you willing to stay faithful to God no matter what?
Let us press on this week as we strive to be faithful no matter what! Let us aim to be faithful to the One who is faithful. God is always faithful to His people and His faithfulness is our greatest blessing!
We're pilgrims on the journey of the narrow road
And those who've gone before us line the way
Cheering on the faithful, encouraging the weary
Their lives a stirring testament to God's sustaining grace
Surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses
Let us run the race not only for the prize
But as those who've gone before us
Let us leave to those behind us
The heritage of faithfulness passed on through godly lives
Oh, may all who come behind us find us faithful
May the fire of our devotion light their way
May the footprints that we leave lead them to believe
And the lives we live inspire them to obey
Oh, may all who come behind us find us faithful
