“I am the Lord, and I do not change..” - Malachi 3:6a (NLT)
Life is filled with uncertainties and inconsistencies! We have our ups and downs, our good days and bad days. Sometimes we feel strong; at other times, weak. And our walk is not always consistent with our talk.
In a world of change and inconsistency, it is both heartening and comforting to know that we have a God who is perfectly consistent and does not change like shifting shadows (James 1:17). God is not like us. He has no ups and downs, for He does not suffer from mood swings or fluctuating emotions. He is not strong on some days and weak on other days (Isaiah 40:28). We may fall asleep on the job but God does not, for He who keeps us neither slumber nor sleep (Psalm 121:4). Our love for others and for God may grow cold, but God's love for us endures forever (Psalm 136:1b).
People everywhere are struggling with one thing or another. Many are struggling to cope with the constant changes brought about by the pandemic. Some are struggling with failures and feelings of emptiness and worthlessness, helplessness and hopelessness. Others struggle with a difficult relationship, a debilitating illness, and a future that only seems bleak.
What are you struggling with? Bring all your struggles to God and lay them before His feet. He is a faithful God in whom we can trust to help us. He is consistent in his nature and character, and is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8).
Our God can be trusted to take care of us and to provide for all our needs. We can trust Him to hear and answer our prayers. We can depend on Him to lead and guide us today and through the rest of the year!
Truly, He is a God we can trust!
And those who know your name put their trust in you,
for you, O LORD, have not forsaken those who seek you.
- Psalm 9:10 (ESV)
